Get Healthier At Work

Most Americans spend at least 40 hours a week at work, so it makes sense to take your habits into account when trying to improve your health.

Get a good night's sleep.  A healthy day starts with a good night's sleep.  You should shoot for 8 hours.  Sleep is the first important step to a healthy lifestyle.  It will lead you to be more productive.

Stick to a schedule for the work day.  We are all busy and will continue to be busy, therefore 'busy' can't be a reason not to live a healthy lifestyle.  In your head, you will never have time for certain things unless you make the time.  You need to schedule a lunch so you don't skip it.  Schedule in gym time.  Set aside a couple of minutes every day to plan out your short term goals so you have a plan to follow.

Eat a healthy breakfast.  One thing you must always do is make time to eat.  This starts with a hearty breakfast.  If your car were out of fuel, you'd get to a gas station.  You need to think of your meals this way too.

Stretching is something most people don't do.  More and more people have jobs where they sit most of their day which can cause muscular problems, bad posture, and ultimately injury.  For every hour you work, you should get up for 5 minutes to move around, straighten up and stretch.

One of the best things you can do for your workday is plan ahead.  If you can start with a game plan before you even get into the office, you'll be ready to get started.  Make meals to take ahead of time so you don't have to count on last minute fast food, plan what you're going to wear so you don't end up late for that important meeting and carry some extra exercise clothes to ensure you'll get physical activity in for the day.
