Heart At Work

Feeling cooped up in your cubical?  The AHA has a work friendly program just for you.

Start At Work is the American Heart Association’s program designed to help employees step away from their desks and get quick physical activity at work.  Remember, walking can help a person reduce their risk of heart disease and stroke. And healthier employees help you reduce healthcare costs. So why wouldn’t you want employees up and moving?

So, get a group together and track your progress with the AHA’s help here.

You can set up walking routes near your place of work, track their mileage, and use lunch hours or breaks to get moving.  Even consider taking a small meeting outside and on the run instead of sitting in an office.  30 minutes is a good timed goal to shoot for.

National Start Walking day is April 8th.  Why not use February, Go Red For Women month, as time to start organizing your team, and set a mileage goal for April 8th?

Remember that heart disease is the No. 1 killer in the U.S. And physical inactivity doubles the risk, so get moving!
