Help your kids develop good habits.
More social occasions this year means your kids are probably being thrown into all kinds of situations. It's a great time to refresh them on some basics in good habits.
Some Good Habits:
Be Respectful: Kids are born as blank slates, and part of their learning comes from observing the world around them. They pick up signals and instructions on how to live by noticing their environment. Children must learn to respect not only their elders but children from their age group also. They should be polite and respectful when talking to their elders and children of their age group. The best way to inculcate this habit in your child is by being respectful yourself.
Be Polite: Kids need to be taught to be humble, and to treat everyone as equals. Aggressive behavior in a child should not be encouraged. Throwing tantrums also stems from this tendency to be stubborn. One of the goods habits for kids is that they should also be helpful to everyone and this will only happen if they are humble. The habit of helping old people in tasks like carrying groceries or crossing roads can be inculcated in a child.
Be Confident: One of the most important things parents can do is instill confidence in their kids. They should be taught to value self esteem in others and refrain from behavior that would harm someone else's self image.
Be Courteous: Kids should have some good basic habits like saying "please" and "thank you", and should learn to respect adults when they are talking by not interrupting them.
Be Healthy: Kids that are in tune with a healthy lifestyle will become adults that live healthy lifestyles. Children should know the importance of eating right and exercising regularly.
