
Bring one of these crowd pleasing dishes to your family's Thanksgiving table.
Green Beans
- 1 lb. fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1/4 cup minced onion
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Steam or saut'e green beans with onion until tender.
Sprinkle with salt and garlic powder.
Sweet Potato Casserole
- 3c. sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed
-1c. sugar
-1/2 c. butter, melted
-1/3 c. milk
-2 eggs, beaten
-1 tsp vanilla
- topping
- 1 c. light brown sugar
-1/2 c. flour
-1/3 c. butter
-1 c. nuts, chopped
Mix ingredients; put into baking dish.
Mix topping well and sprinkle on.
Bake approximately 25 minutes at 350 degrees.
Baked Squash
-3 medium squash
-1 small onion,chopped
-1/2 tsp salt
- pepper to taste
-grated cheese
-1 egg. beaten
-6 crackers finely crushed
-Turnip Greens
-1 1-lb. ham hock
-3 lb. turnip greens
-salt and pepper to taste
Cook the squash and onion with seasonings in enough water to prevent scorching until tender. Mash throughly and drain. Add cracker crumbs and egg to squash mixture. Pour mixture into a greased 2-quart baking dish. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes, sprinkle with cheese and bake until cheese has melted. 6 servings
