Find Heartburn Relief

All those holiday meals taking a toll on your body?  Reduce your raging heartburn.

If you are one of the millions of people suffering from frequent heartburn (that means heartburn that occurs 2 or more times a week), there are things you can do to help prevent symptoms.

Avoid Heartburn Triggers:
Perhaps the best way to avoid painful heartburn is to stay away from foods that trigger the symptoms.  Limit or avoid foods and drinks that are high in fat and acid, like full-fat dairy products, citrus, chocolate and alcoholic beverages.

Change Your Lifestyle: Staying at a healthy weight through diet and regular exercise can help reduce frequent heartburn symptoms.  If you suffer from heartburn at night, try sleeping with the head of your bed raised to relieve symptoms.

Seek Treatment:  If you've tried diet and lifestyle changes, but still have heartburn, there are medicines called Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) that can help treat symptoms.  Of course you should ask your healthcare provider about any medication you plan on taking before beginning it.
