Combat Your Pollen Allergies

Pollen is EVERYWHERE! It can be found in trees, flowers, grass, and weeds. You might be wondering just how to avoid this allergen because as soon as you get over the tree pollen in spring, there will be grass pollen in summer, and ragweed pollen in fall. However, there are some steps you can take to prevent and reduce its effects....

Allergies to pollen can be treated by using medication, immunotherapy, or by avoiding the allergens. Medication is available in both prescription and over-the-counter varities. The most common prescription drugs are antihistamines. The topical antihistamines are more popular and also more effective, because they can be put directly on the affected area, to provide fast relief of symptoms.

Immunotherapy involves the use of allergy shots, and entails the injection of small doses of pollen under the skin. It is believed that this will help to improve the body's tolerance to the pollen, and avert a severe reaction. Will it work for you? Maybe you should just try it out!
