Now more than ever those in our communities need support. Use your talents and skills to improve the world around you.
As Americans we use our natural resources every day to improve the way we live, but have we fully tapped into our cultural resources?
Financial woes for community organizations and non profits have left them scrambling and laying off the few paid positions they previously could afford. What’s worse, sometimes this means the end of an organization which becomes a problem for those who depend on these important resources. Never fear, you can help prevent the cycle from spinning out of control. It’s easier than ever to find a place to volunteer. The government recently set up a portal that can help you something right for you. It’s not all about soup kitchens or green peace, though needs are out there for those types of volunteers too.
If you like spending time outside consider volunteering as a campground host. Perhaps you’re a wiz on the computer. Organizations are looking for website work. There are clerical positions and you can work in groups or alone. The site also offers details as to who may be best suited for the tasks (ie senior friendly) and how difficult you can expect the task to be. Opportunities are waiting, so get out there and make a difference.
